Postherpetic Neuralgia:

The pain of Herpetic Neuralgia rarely offers any difficulty in diagnosis. It is more common in elderly age group more than 60 years of age. Pain might get aggravated by touch, blow of air etc.

The site if pain is in distribution of shingles and scarring is visible. These patients are not usually awakened at night by this pain. Four qualities of pain may be distinguished are:

  • Burning pain
  • Deep aching pain
  • Crawling pain
  • Shooting pain
Symptoms of Postherpetic Neuralgia are constipation, indigestion.

      • Stellate ganglion block
      • Thoracic sympathetic chain block
      • Intercostal block
      • Lumbar sympathetic chain block
