Meralgia Paraesthetica:
The nagging discomfort over the lateral part of thigh happens because of compression of the lateral cutaneous nerve of thigh.
The nerve may be compressed stretched from its origin under the inguinal ligament and in the fascia lata. Trauma, tumours and surgery injure the nerve.
The characteristics of this pain are paraesthesiae, burning pain and allodynia in the affected nerve root distribution of the lateral thigh. The pain may be reproduced by pressure over the inguinal ligament or by a reverse straight leg-raising test.

- Infiltrating local anesthetic with steroids around the nerve at the suspected point of compression.
